If you only buy one comic book this week...

Make sure its called Shaolin Cowboy # 7. It rarely makes any sense, comes out every 3 to 4 months and is completely hilarious. If you buy 7 comics this week, get Shaolin Cowboy issues 1 through 6 as well. Once you meet that quota, you can buy all the Countdowns and Hulk Super Fight comics you want.

Is there a running story to this book, or is it single issue insanity? Based upon your recommendation, I'll pick it up when and if I get to the shop this week.

dude, i'm actually excited for hulk superfight. at least there's not some overarching pseudo-philosophy bullshit like there was in "civil poop." plus, it's the fucking hulk mixed with gladiator. that ist rad.

Jason,

There is a continuing story, but it appears to be the aftermath to some other story. It sounds weird and off-putting, but its all different shades of the rainbow kind of awesome.

Pachoob,

If Cap Rider was here, he'd Ghost Ride the Whip all over your unpatriotic, Civil War hating ass with his Patriotic Penance Stare. And besides! Planet Hulk is an uber-commentary on US Foreign Policy.......right?

I thought it was a think-piece on the state of health care in 21st century America?

i think it's a commentary on the global economy and WTO.

All right, I picked it up and, woo-hoo, I don't have access to the right kinds of drugs to make any sense of it all, but I'm still going to get the rest of the issues. What's up with Darrow usually pairing his cool-ass art with relatively incomprehensible stories (ie. Frank Miller's Harboiled)?

Also, highly recommend picking up Criminal #6, the story downshifts from heist-thriller to revenge-thriller and has very little connection to the previous arc. Very down and dirty stuff, feels a lot more like Sleeper

Shaolin Cowboy is a weird book that instantly thrusts you into the deep end of absurdity. With that being said, its absolute hilarious sense of humor definitely helps to keep one from trying to make any sense out of it. And Geof Darrow's art.... by god. Amazing. Just hang on for a little bit. Even though it rarely comes out, when it does its always a great read.

And I did pick up the new Criminal. I'm going to stick with the issues. Maybe even pull it if I ever get myself a pull list going.
